Rules and Rankings

Sailing is done freely and under your own responsibility.

Our role is only to centralise and rank the data you send us on your own initiative. We cannot be held responsible in the event of an incident.

For insurance and safety reasons we recommend holding a valid sailing licence. Other recommendations: wetsuit, informing someone of your session, etc.

The basics

A few basic rules:

Supported disciplines: Windsurf, Windfoil, Wingfoil, Kite, Kitefoil
You measure your performance with your GPS
All GPS models are accepted.

GPS Devices

The best GPS devices for "speed" use Doppler to calculate speed. Here are the most recognised models in our field:

These models are recognised by GPS Speed Surfing, which allows you to rank yourself globally.

For the WindR Speed Challenge you can use other models provided you can:

Export traces in one of the following formats: .SBN, .GPX, .SBP, .UBX, .VCC, .NMEA, FIT
Capture GPS points every second (possible by configuration on most models)
